As a Strategic Planning Improvement Lead , your main responsibilities will be:Facilitate discussions and workshops to assess the problem and opportunities through engagement with stakeholders. Map and understand the current state, identify gaps or potential challenges to change, review relevant audit and risk documentation and identify the artifacts, processes, governance and ways of working involved at each stageIdentify best practice from existing methodology and/or case studies from across similar government bodies to inform recommendations for improvementsIdentify critical success factors, key areas of alignment and dependences,Develop recommendations for improvement and prepare written papers andpresentations to key stakeholders, including senior boards and panels to gain co-operation and agreement in embedding improvements.Develop the processes, systems and guidance requirement to implement the change that aligns with existing processes and governance, fosters collaborative working and empowers decision making across the organisation.Work collaboratively with the strategy and planning team and business planning group to test ideas, identify linkages and engage discussions.Document and report on progress, decisions and requirements for use during development and utilise as reference material during implementation.Socialise agreed recommendations, identifying and unlocking any blockages, and support the resolution of outstanding issuesProvide practical support and knowledge to the team and key internal stakeholders on using strategic planning frameworks and tools to test and articulate ideas, outcomes and prioritiesEssential SkillsDemonstrable experience in delivering similar work in an organisation of similar size and scope, preferably within both the public or private sector 'sBe an experienced senior leader with significant background and experience in strategic leadership and planning across a portfolio of projectsHave extensive knowledge and understanding of strategic planning and prioritisation methodologies, with a successful track record of developing and embedding successful strategic level improvement systems and processesBe highly collaborative with experience of working with multiple stakeholders, including executive and non-executive boards, and senior leaders, to understand and interpret requirements, manage expectations and influence directionHave experience of mapping current business and governance processes, assessing gaps, essential data flows, decision points and models of best practice to propose workable and aligned recommendations for changeHave strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into compelling presentations and papersStrong self starter
