The Opportunity

We're on the lookout for a dynamic L&D technologist to join our team! If you're passionate about learning and technology, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this is your chance to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Essex’s County Council’s Learning Management System (LMS).

You'll be the driving force behind our learning festival and various learning campaigns, utilising tools like MS Office Stream, Insights, Sway, Forms, and Clipchamp. Your enthusiasm for tech will be key as you explore innovative solutions with Power Automation, AI, and HTML.

While experience with an LMS is a plus, we provide comprehensive training on our platform to ensure you're up to speed. Your role is crucial in managing learner expectations, requiring excellent communication skills, resilience, and empathy.

As you can imagine no two days are the same and will includes tasks such as leading collaborations and revitalising virtual sessions, tracking training trends to stay ahead of the learning curve and enhancing our platform and enriching our skills repository.

Attention to detail is a must, as is the readiness to tackle repetitive tasks with the end goal of crafting perfect solutions. You'll need to grasp the complexities of the public sector, but don't worry, our onboarding process is designed to help you understand the diverse needs of our learners, from the recycling team to lawyers and social workers.

Accountabilities

  • Support updating virtual sessions building effective working relationships with other L&D practitioners and chase for none updated rosters which affects user records.
  • Support interest tracking requests to ascertain future training needs for learners.
  • Weekly check of events and sessions running to ensure links etc are there for learners.
  • Upload content as and when needed and set quarterly reviews to ensure content still be utilise, check evaluation and check working as it should e.g., launch.
  • Update recordings to L&D ‘branding’ so learners clearly see which learning capabilities they are aligned too. (Like thumbnailing we do now on My Learning)
  • Support learning technology Consultant with quarterly platform releases.
  • Maintain and support professional skills catalogue – make live, remove expired content.
  • Highlight problems on My Learning to escalate.
  • Checklist / review accessibility on My Learning content.
  • Problems solving with My Learning Wizards and offer support.
  • Utilise new cornerstone tool such as VR, Content Studio.
  • Support in reviewing evaluations for programmes.
  • BAU customer services– e.g., Corp Gov!! completion queries, finding a specific course etc.

Comms and Marketing:

  • Market our offer with guidance from LT Consultant and working with comms and design team.
  • Post updates to learners on Yammer, Teams etc

Projects:

  • MS Stream videos – all learning and performance videos now broken due to Stream migrating.
  • Support us in building new L&D Teams area so all files etc in one place for new structure!
  • Learning ‘cataloguing’ - Streamline topics into new categories / capabilities.
  • Support deactivation of old content so most up to dates and used content is available.
  • Support Learning Technology Consultant in building new pages and removal of ‘Hubs’ to produce more affective user journey for learners ready for LearnFest.
  • Help with LearnFest/Learning campaigns.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Efficient or can learn quickly in MS Office tools including – Stream, insights, sway, forms, Clipchamp, utilising content creating tools at ECC.
  • Excited about learning technology, not afraid to try new ways of doing things e.g., Power automation, AI, HTML.
  • Experience of working on an LMS would be great – but training on cornerstone offered.
  • This role is more than likely receive some learner frustrations, so good communication s kills, resilience, empathy is needed. Don’t tend to hear when it’s made impact, so would advocate role to help with stalls and meeting the teams more especially to grow network when working in a hybrid set up!
  • Eye for detail and ready to work on a given task repeatedly, to produce a solution. Some tasks will be repetitive but worth it in the end!
  • ability to understand organisation’s requirement, public sector is complex but good onboarding will be needed so they understand the different hats we wear to support different learners e.g., from recycle team, to lawyers to social workers.
