Overview:
The EDP Workstream will be developing a TOM which will illustrate and describe how the future state of the Enterprise Data Platform will work. The Business Architect role within the Enterprise Data Platform Workstream will focus on leading the design and development of the EDP TOM.
The role will also support the design and development of EDP Phase 2, however, it will not lead the development of this framework.
The Business Architect will be responsible for the following deliverables:
- Deliverable 1: EDP TOM Design (Initial engagement)
- Deliverable 2: EDP TOM Role out and Embedding (Follow on Engagement)
The key responsibilities of the role are to:
- Maintain a single and joined-up view of Data platform design operations on behalf of the business and key customer Programmes.
- Act as the business architecture and operating model design subject matter expert for the EDP TOM Workstream.
- Present the EDP Operating Models to business and technical forums, and seek approval from senior stakeholders.
- Design and document value streams, business capabilities, business processes, and system interactions relating to EDP platform.
- Identify cross-division / functional / team capabilities, services, process, and activities and manage their design dependencies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand high level business and technical requirements for the platform users.
- Ensure alignment of the EDP operating model with the overall Data and Analytics strategy and objectives.
- Provide guidance and support to the EDP programme team and Customer programmes during the implementation of the operating model.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates to the operating model to adapt to changing business needs.
- Work with the EDP Programme Team to develop transition state designs to support the development of the transformation roadmap, and business change planning between current and target state.
- Manage EDP TOM design integration with other related operating models such as DAT TOM, Tech TOM, Cloud TOM and wider design and operating model work which is underway across Data and Analytics initiatives within BoE.
- Manage relationships with the architecture and technical delivery colleagues and support the development of technical artefacts.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Follow the established business architecture standards and design assurance processes.
Requirements:
- High-value and complex business transformation programmes, preferably in banking or data transformation.
- Operating model design in a complex and regulated environment, preferably in banking or other regulated organisation.
- Development of current and target operating models.
- Supporting the development of transformation roadmaps.
- Hands-on high-level design including vision, and strategic requirement and capability elicitation and definition.
- Hands-on low-level design including capability modelling and mapping, and business artefact design and development.
- Hands-on design of organisation / management structures.
- Development of people roles, responsibility, and skills profiles.
- Business process mapping.
- Business and technical requirements elicitation, capture, and documentation.
- Development of operational guidance including playbooks, desk instructions, user instructions.
Desirable Criteria
- Design of operating models which are aligned to regulatory / legal requirements.
- Basic understanding of digital and technology i.e., digital services, technology infrastructure, hardware, software and tooling.
- Basic understanding of data management, data architecture and data products, i.e., data sources, data structures, and the types of business products /outputs generated from data.
