Job description

 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join us working with our media client to develop a fully personalised customer experience using their in house Web Core platform working on a backend system to provide a range of personalised features and will support a frontend webpage driving discovery and consumption of content across the business.

The successful applicant will build and extend re-usable UI components, whilst planning, building, testing and providing operational support to services running on Node JS and that are deployed to AWS Cloud.

They will be expert web development with knowledge of HTTP, Restful APIS, JavaScript, Node JS and React experience supporting live systems. Additionally they will be used to working in Agile methodology and be a team player who enjoys mentoring and coaching of junior members while previous knowledge or experience of Web Core or building on pre-existing web platforms would be advantageous.

Essential Key Skills and Responsibilities

You will:

  • have expertise in JavaScript, Node JS and React
  • be experienced providing support to live systems with zero downtime
  • have an understanding of HTTP and REST APIs development as server and as client
  • be competent coding using Test Driven Development pattern
  • have experience building on pre-existing web platforms (desired)
  • have professional experience of working in projects using Agile Scrum/Kanban development processes
  • enjoy pair programming and collaborating with other engineers
  • have a strong willingness to learn and be a keen team player
  • have experience of writing and taking responsibility for technical documentation.

Experience

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work based experience.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
  • Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
  • Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
  • You are flexible and curious in your approach
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
