Network Test & Automation Engineer at Flomatik Network Services, Birmingham, £Contract Rate

Flomatik Network Services are seeking a highly technical, hands-on resource with experience of managing, coordinating, facilitating & executing test plans, automate tests using appropriate frameworks, defect management and status reporting; primarily for Layer2 & Layer 3 testing work.

Location: based in Bradford, Yorkshire with agreement, remote working is available & acceptable where & when on site is not required

Skills and understanding required for this contracting position as follows…

• Lead development of a comprehensive network test automation framework and roadmap for a network scope including routing, switching, voice, wireless, security, cloud, DNS, and load balancing platforms and technologies
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python and automation frameworks like Selenium, Robot etc
• Development experience with application/service mapping between endpoints, load balancers, routers, and firewalls and traffic simulation tools via native APIs
• Take technical leadership initiative in proposing new solutions, enhancements, and optimization to increase network visibility and monitoring functionality
• Enable a standardized networking environment through inventory management, templating, provisioning, analysis, auditing/reporting, and resolving discrepancies through automated means
• Develop tools for comprehensive network monitoring and visibility including dashboards and other visualization to represent real-time network state and health
• Ownership of a suite of tools providing network management and visibility development of scalable on-prem or cloud-based programmatic solutions for managing a broad network environment
• Integration of automation with test management platforms like JIRA/Confluence
• Hands on technical knowledge & experience of Layer 2 Metro Ethernet networks, Layer 3, preferably Cisco Kit, SDWAN (Cisco/Versa/Meraki) Management, facilitation, automation & testing
• Layer 2 networking experience, eg LAGs, spanning tree, control frame tunnelling, CoS/QoS, TACACs, SNMP, FTP, SSH, NTP, ACLs, layer 2 device configuration & management Traffic generators, layer 3 protocols, Cisco IOS, Versa/Cisco/Meraki SDWAN
• Professional, self-motivated, self-driven, customer focused, delivery-orientated, flexible with ability & capacity to learn (new vendor kit)
• MEF certification, Layer 3 network experience, Ixia traffic generator, Cisco IOX, CIsco IOS XR, Ciena SAOS 8.x.x, SAOS 10.x.x Experience with Jira for sprint planning, updates, defect management. Experience with Confluence for documentation repository.
