Systems Integration and Test Engineer

As part of this journey, we are looking for a contract Systems Engineer focused on integration and test, with experience in production standard, software-centric distributed systems. This role will support the execution of a high-profile project delivering a C5ISR system for scaled experimentation. This includes tactical mobile devices, personal, local and wireless networking technologies, robotics and autonomous systems as well as Cloud infrastructure.

Key areas of responsibility

In this role, you will be responsible for:
  • Integrating complex systems of hardware and software to ensure seamless operation.
  • Developing and executing integration and test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Configuring and troubleshooting networked systems and devices, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Analysing user, system, and software requirements to develop effective integration and test strategies.
  • Conducting system, sub-system, and component level integration and testing.
  • Documenting system configurations and managing changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Generating and maintaining detailed records of integration and test activities, including defects and resolutions.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to agree on integration approaches, provide status updates, and support system acceptance.
  • Ensuring traceability of requirements through verification and validation processes.
  • Actively considering system assurance focused on fitness for purpose in the definition and execution SI&T activities.
  • Identifying and utilising appropriate tools, facilities, and resources for system integration and testing.

Key skills, experience and behaviours

We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology and who actively invests in their technical skills and abilities. You’ll gain loads of experience in this role but before you do, you should have the following:

Required:
o   Experience in integrating complex systems of hardware and software.
o   Proficiency in system integration methodologies and tools.
o   Understanding of network protocols, tactical and public RF communications systems and architectures e.g. IP, Serial, video protocols, LTE, MANET waveforms, LOS & ELOS mesh networks.
o   Experience in configuring and troubleshooting networked systems and devices.
o   Experience in documenting system configurations and change management.
o   High level of precision and accuracy in performing integration and test tasks.
o   Experience with defect raising and tracking.
o   Familiarity with network diagnostic and monitoring tools such as Wireshark

Desired:
o   Proficiency in developing and executing SI&T plans, procedures, and reports.
o   Competence in writing and executing test cases, test scripts, automated tests, and HMI-driven tests.
o   Knowledge of model-based design and testing methodologies.
o   Experience testing safety and security related systems.
o   Familiarity with tools such as GIT, JIRA, Sparx EA, TestRail.
