Digital Project Manager - Inside IR35

Contract Term: Until 31/03/2025

Contracting Authority: MoD

Location: Hybrid – Remote & 1-2 days p/week in Abbey Wood, Bristol.

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is a central government department with a mission to protect our country and provide the ultimate guarantee of its security and independence, as well as helping to protect its values and interests abroad.

The Project Manager for the Defence Legislation Support Tool (DLST) V2 and BowTie is responsible for delivering both projects through an effective stakeholder framework to time, cost and requirement.

The DLST V2 is a database of relevant legislation and applications for managing Disapplications, Exemptions and Derogations (DEDs) against which the DSA puts in place regulatory frameworks.

BowTie is a pan-Defence risk management tool that facilitates identification of risk and management of controls. It assists the DSA in the conduct of its Third Line of Defence assurance output.

As a Digital Project Manager your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Designing & applying appropriate project management standards, in accordance with best practice & Head Office guidance.
  • Managing the production of the required deliverables and planning / monitoring the project.
  • Adopting any delegation & use of project assurance roles within agreed reporting structures.
  • Preparing and maintaining project, stage and exceptions plans as required.
  • Managing project risks, including the development of contingency plans, to ensure effective and timely delivery.
  • Monitoring overall progress and use of resources, initiating corrective action where necessary.
  • Reporting through agreed lines on project progress through highlight reports and end-stage assessments.
  • Adopting & applying appropriate technical and quality strategies and standards.
  • Engaging & working alongside commercial staffs to ensure effective frameworks & strategies are in place.


SC Clearance is an essential requirement to be considered for this role, therefore you must be willing & eligible to undergo these checks.


You will have:

  • Demonstrable Project Management experience with a reasonable understanding of digital / database products and tools.
  • Expert stakeholder engagement & management skills – internal & external.
  • Strong commercial knowledge & experience of Invitation to Tender / Pre-Bid stages.
  • Agile methodology experience.
  • Defence experience – nice to have.
  • A relevant Project Management qualification – nice to have.
