Contract Description

We are currently hiring for an SC Cleared IT Project Manager for an initial 3-6 months contract assignment within our Managed Services Division. The role can be carried out mainly remotely with regular travel to our customer sites around the UK.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be holding an active SC Clearance. 

This role provides an exciting opportunity to join our IT team in one of the most dynamic and fast growing charities in the sector. This role is critical in delivering IT projects that will support the delivery of our IT Roadmap and our ambitious new strategy.

Working autonomously, the IT Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing the scheduling and delivery of technical IT tasks, projects and technical components of larger projects.

This is a technical role and the post holder will require technical skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver projects end to end, including transition to Managed Services where applicable.
  • Ensure projects are delivered to time, budget, and quality, ensuring consistent adherence to Telefónica Tech standards.
  • Manage the project delivery in the contexts of:
    • Internal and external kick off meetings
    • Communication planning
    • Resource planning and scheduling
    • Project planning and execution
    • Project budgeting
    • Project level RAID and escalation management
    • Project reporting
    • Project change management
    • Invoicing
    • Transition to Managed Services (Billing and commercials, ITSM configuration, service documentation, service operational acceptance testing, knowledge transfer, and handover)
  • Manage project finances, including maintaining project budgets, forecast, payment milestones, invoicing.
  • Manage internal and Customer escalations for project related issues.
  • Liaise with internal and Customer stakeholders to create a project and transition plans with clearly defined timescales.
  • Ensure we have the appropriate people, tools, processes, and commercials to run services that are transitioned.
  • Ensure appropriate Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are within scope of the contract and work with the operations team to agree suitable Operation Level Agreements (OLAs) to meet the agreed SLAs.
  • Ensure Telefónica Tech Operations are fully aware of the deliverable content of our contracts by ensuring a high standard of operational documentation.
  • Assist the Bid Management team when appointed in a pre-sales capacity, representing the Telefónica Tech PMO department.
  • Contribute to the Bid Management process by estimating project and transition management effort and documenting the information required for bid submission.
  • Review and approve Proposals, SoWs, and RFCs for project engagements.
  • When required, travel to Customer sites or other Telefónica Tech offices and DC locations.
  • Contribute to the project and transition management improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in setting the strategy, methodology and direction for the PMO team.
  • Mentor and support other Project Managers as required.

You will also have:

  • 5 years of experience, working as a Senior Project Manager for a System Integrator/Managed Services provider, delivering projects aligned to the Telefónica Tech technology areas: Private and Public Cloud (Azure and AWS), Modern Workplace, Networks and Cybersecurity.
  • Experience in working within a transition team or had a similar role, transitioning solutions from project to live service.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously with consultancy budgets larger than £100K.
  • Knowledge and experience about platforms such as DC infrastructure, Azure, AWS, Office 365, CSP, Virtual Server, Networking, EUC environments.
  • Whilst not a technical role, a strong appreciation and understanding of the underlying technologies is required.
  • Experience in managing projects with Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in managing projects in Jira (desirable).
  • Ability to manage projects within the agreed scope and manage changes via project change control.
  • Ability to maintain project budgets, tracking actual spend and forecasting to project completion.
  • Ability to create and manage detailed project plans, covering Telefónica Tech, Customer, and 3rd party tasks.
  • Ability to identify and manage technical and non-technical project dependencies.
  • Ability to prioritise and re-prioritise tasks in line with the project priorities and adapt when those change.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and maintaining key relationships across functions within an organisation;
  • Strong organisational and timekeeping skills, with demonstrable experience in prioritising request and managing expectations.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite of products and collaboration tools.
  • Considerable experience of working collaboratively and being able to prioritise your workload effectively, whilst remaining solution focussed throughout your areas of work.
  • Strong interpersonal and interpretation skills, allowing you to have open jargon-free conversations with the business.
  • Attentive listening skills when gathering critical requirements or understanding the basis of user concerns that are being articulated.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience of working as part of a team, supporting colleagues when there are deadlines, and knowing when to ask for help.
  • Ability to take initiative, be a self-starter and incredibly motivated.
  • A 'can-do' attitude, be enthusiastic and passionate.

Skills and Experience:

  • At least 5 years experience in Project Management

  • Demonstrates good overall IT knowledge

  • Has worked in secure environments

  • IT infrastructure experience including the full project life cycle is essential

  • Proven experience of project delivery across diverse and complex technology areas, for example:

    • Infrastructure (Networks, Servers, Storage)

    • Networking

    • Windows, Linux, VMware/Hyper-V

    • IT Security

  • Technical acumen and experience of complex secure environments

  • Prince 2 or equivalent project management methodology

  • Proficient user of a known Project Planning tool

  • Strong planning capability and the ability to identify key dependencies across project activities

  • Quality and governance of delivery

  • Self-motivated, resilient and able to work under pressure
