Job Purpose:

TMHCC is running a significant programme of change under the Transformation Programme to transform policy administration capability to be fit for purpose and to support our growing and diverse business.

As part of that transformation, we are aiming to support the reporting and analytics requirements of the business by developing data products that drive effective decision-making whilst implementing an end-to-end solution that delivers value to the business with each release on the programme roadmap.

Reporting to the Principal Data Modeller, a highly experienced and capable Data Analyst is required to join the in-flight Data Delivery Project and hit the ground running to rapidly undertake activities that supports the programme teams to deliver the data products that will support a series of Strategic releases.


Key Responsibilities:


Requirements Gathering:

  • Quickly develop a comprehensive understanding of the current status and progression of deliverables within the Data Delivery and Analytics release schedules.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand and document their business requirements with regards to reporting. Translate these requirements into specifications that will act as a technical foundation for both the Data Delivery and Power BI teams.
  • Conduct analysis to pinpoint integral data gaps essential for fulfilling business requirements
  • Effectively Investigate current reporting capabilities across multiple systems and databases, through of technical skills and data knowledge


Stakeholder Communication:

  • Lead workshops as necessary to adequately comprehend and document business motivations and reporting needs for, as well as opportunities within, the migration of relevant business teams to the new data platform.
  • Effectively communicate with key stakeholders throughout the data product lifecycle, managing expectations against business requirements
  • Provide guidance to business stakeholders on best practices and optimal features for implementation within Power BI.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between business users, the Data Delivery team, and the Data Analytics team, ensuring effective translation of requirements and specifications across all three entities.


Data and Analytics:

  • Build wireframes to demonstrate Power BI designs and key concepts to stakeholders, inform data modellers, provide Power BI developers with business requirements
  • Work with a Solution Architect ensuring an appropriate solution design (and optimum configuration) is achieved against the defined requirements.
  • Work with the Data Modellers to ensure data modelling and data integration requirements support the business requirements and dependent project/workstream integration requirements.
  • Work with Power BI developers to design and implements visualisation capabilities that align to defined requirements
  • Assist in development and execution of test plans to effectively test the accuracy of data and analytics provided as part of the data product.
  • Work with IT teams to ensure IT drivers (NFRs including security, stability and supportability) and technical requirements are appropriately documented and factored into key decisions and project plans.


Performance Objectives:  

The Data Delivery Project requires in the first 3 months for the candidate to have successfully:

  • Developed a strong, supportive, and collaborative working relationship with the Data Delivery Project Team, Data Analytics team, the broader Transformation programme team, and Business stakeholders.
  • Understood and documented the current AS IS reporting capabilities across the business, clearly defining gaps and next steps.
  • Supported the development of data products that enable the transition of a line of business to a new policy administration system with associated enhancements to the existing data platform.


Skills and Experience Specification:

The successful candidate will be outcomes driven with an insurance background and have demonstrable experience in similar previous roles and be able to operate at a programme/enterprise level of data analysis.


A strong understanding of data processes and other insurance processing systems is essential for this role.


In addition, we are seeking:

  • An excellent communicator with the ability to quickly establish rapport with business and technical SME personnel at all levels.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Power BI transformation projects, including back-end modelling and configuration.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Snowflake with the ability to create complex queries and analyse large datasets.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment, with the ability to function across multiple scrum squads.
  • Experience working across multiple business functions such as Finance, Claims and Underwriting
  • Demonstrable ability to work with both ambiguity and change producing deliverables to required timeframes.
  • An ability to identify problems and issues within current business processes, whilst offering tangible and actionable solutions
  • Create clear and concise deliverables to ensure project objectives are well understood and successfully completed.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles, with experience managing and coordinating tasks to meet project deadlines.
  • Previous work in the insurance sector, particularly our lines of business and/or London Market and/or reinsurance process.
