An opportunity to join our Trading IT function on a contract basis


We are seeking a talented ETRM Business Analyst to contribute to our program aimed at enhancing SM&T’s instance of ION’s Endur Energy Trading and Risk Management System. In this role, you will play a crucial part in driving tactical and strategic improvements across various functional areas throughout the trading lifecycle. Joining a hybrid working model, your objective will be to support the expansion of the SM&T business across the UK & Europe by providing comprehensive business analysis aligned with our evolving needs.


• Collaborate within a team to deliver technology-enabled business change initiatives.
• Work closely with the Front/Middle/Back Office, software development team, and other business support functions to assess, shape, and deliver tactical and strategic developments.
• Engage with key stakeholders to understand processes, develop business cases, document requirements, and create specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Ensure effective planning and prioritisation of all business change initiatives, supported by detailed requirements, and agreed acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with the software testing team and business users to ensure solutions meet expectations and have a positive impact upon implementation.
• Contribute to the development of business readiness plans before implementation.
• Assist in user training and the creation and maintenance of user guides.
• Collaborate with IT teams supporting the full deal lifecycle to develop solutions aligned with future business needs.
• Participate in post-implementation reviews to monitor product effectiveness and performance.


• A strong understanding of the European Gas & Emissions Trading – Physical and financial
• Familiarity with Endur or similar trading and risk management systems
• Self-motivated and able to work within a team environment.
• Ability to grasp business issues and contribute to IT solutions.
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate and achieve results collectively.
• Proven ability to coordinate tasks within complex projects.
• Effective time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Exposure to documenting business processes (as-is and to-be)
• Experience working with business colleagues and providing constructive input to requirements.
• Familiarity with functional specification and configuration of commercial software packages, or custom-developed software
• Exposure to at least three aspects of the full deal lifecycle, such as Trading Entry, Valuation & Risk Management, Confirmations, Nominations/Industry Interfaces, Operations/Logistics, Invoicing & Settlements, and Market Data Feeds and Curve Management

• Degree (or equivalent ideally in a numerate subject or computing related subject
• Professional certifications in relevant skill areas are advantageous.
