Contract Description

PitStop Productions are seeking a talented individual to join their Sound Design team as an Audio Programmer.

PitStop are a team of 80+ audio specialists providing creative services to the game industry, covering all aspects of audio, such as Sound Design, Music, and Voice, as well as Game Design and development support. Recently completed titles include Baldur’s Gate 3, Helldivers II, and Horizon: Call Of The Mountain.

The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects from AAA to indie. The main responsibilities will be to create an interface to seamlessly integrate middleware with the game engine, namely Wwise with Unreal, as well as maintain and resolve any bugs related to this integration. You’ll work closely with our Technical and Creative Audio teams, as well as Gameplay Programmers, to ensure that all necessary hooks are in place to support the technical implementation process.

  • We are an independent audio production team running multiple projects worldwide in the ever-evolving video games industry.
  • Over the past 25 years, we have grown our reputation and team, making us renowned for reliably delivering high-quality work in sound design, music, voice and performance capture.
  • We have a friendly and supportive team, who have built up a culture of really looking out for each other.
  • We encourage collaborative working and sharing of skill sets across all levels through regular project demonstrations, a social workspace and team playtesting.
  • You will have the freedom and security to fulfil your true potential, by making a meaningful impact on all manner of titles big and small across multiple audio departments.

  • Work with the Sound Design team, Voice department, and external development teams to conceptualise, design and implement high-quality audio systems
  • Create clean and robust code, following standards and guidelines set out on a per client basis, and be able to pass on knowledge to the technical sound team to maintain audio management systems through concise documentation
  • Ensure audio consistency across all platforms and devices, using development kits and providing gameplay logs where necessary to support external QA teams
  • Create, debug, and optimise audio features, both in engine and in audio software and middleware, in order to streamline the audio content pipeline between PitStop and external development teams
  • Work with QA and code teams on multiple projects, resolving any bugs and issues that may arise related to audio implementation
  • Be able to integrate audio middleware confidently, ensuring ample testing on multiple platforms in order to minimise disruption to development

  • Strong proficiency in C++
  • Experience using blueprints in UE4 or higher
  • Familiarity with audio middleware tools such as Wwise and FMOD. Advanced knowledge of Wwise authoring tools and WAAPI is advantageous.
  • Some experience in creating codebases, particularly for multiplayer video games
  • Proficiency with bug tracking tools, including JIRA
  • Experience in a programming role of full cycle development on at least one game title, or experience of each development stage separately from multiple titles

  • Collaborative culture within a team with a wealth of knowledge to share
  • Flexible working policy
  • Personalised career development
  • Company funded social events / nights out / team meals
  • Regular games nights / tournaments
  • Access to acoustically treated recording studios / creative spaces
  • Holiday closure at Christmas
