An exciting opportunity awaits a contractor to participate in a global IT transformation project!

IN SHORT

We are looking for an Environment and Release Manager  to join our team in Manchester on a contract basis.

The role involves a range of tasks including; packaging and deploying software changes, managing continuous delivery using automation tools, utilizing package management tools for dependency control, combining changes to create releases, ensuring safety and security standards and facilitating effective handover to operational management.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Use approved tools and techniques for specific deployment activities.
  • Administer the recording of activities, logging of results and documents technical activities undertaken.
  • Assess and analyses release components for input to release scheduling.
  • Maintain and administers tools and methods for software delivery, deployment, and configuration.
  • Maintain release processes and procedures.
  • Lead the assessment, analysis, planning and design of release packages, including assessment of risk.
  • Liaise with business and technology teams on release scheduling and communication of progress. Conducts post-release reviews.
  • Ensure that release processes and procedures are applied and that releases can be rolled back as needed.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage the adoption of appropriate release and deployment techniques, processes and automation tools.
  • Set the release policy for the organisation in the context of both development and production/operations.
  • Implement processes, tools, and resources to ensure that the transition of services, service components and packages are planned and compliant.
  • Ensure that test, validation, and configuration management are included in all release and deployment activities.
  • Provide authorisation for critical release activity and point of escalation

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • The ideal candidate will have experience of deploying to AWS and Azure environments using a combination of manual deployment methods and CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
  • You will also have experience of deployments to Salesforce and other SaaS products.
  • Tangible experience of release management in multiple parallel environments, and the ability to demonstrate techniques to manage configurations and rollbacks is highly desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders in a clear, concise, and insightful manner.
  • Attentive and seeks to understand others’ views with the ability to communicate complex issues.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines.
