As a Data Analyst your main responsibilities will be:  

  • Be the technical lead for the Analytics and Insight capability in ASIO
  • Develop a set of Power BI dashboards for use across the division
  • Be the subject matter expert for Data Analysis, following best practice and ensuring the units outputs are of a high standard and appropriately Quality Assured
  • Lead the Analysis and advice relating to aviation security, identifying and addressing key trends for consideration.
  • Act as a technical mentor for two SEO Analysts and help them upskill in more advanced analytical techniques.
  • Leading the development of a range of core analytics products, ensuring outputs meet customer needs, embedding best practice across the unit. You will need to work with teams across DfT, ensuring data and guidance are being deployed and used consistently across the department and external network.
  • Improve and modernise the team’s approach to the production of analytical products through leveraging appropriate tooling and implementing reproducible analytical pipelines.
  • Be willing to explore novel approach to data analytics to maximise the utility of our data assets.
  • Be willing to challenge accepted ideas and harness the power of data to make persuasive arguments for change and improvement.
  • Exercise good judgement to reach evidence-based conclusions and decisions supported by analysis.


You’ll have relevant experience in:

  • Have a high degree of skill in data visualisation and in particular Power BI
  • Have a high level of technical skill in manipulating data from multiple sources and converting them to impactful insights which give a clear and accessible narrative for different types of audience.
  • The ability to apply statistical rigour, critical thinking and creative problem solving to a variety of data sets.
  • A natural curiosity and independent drive to research, experiment and understand.


SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks
