Location: Hybrid: Bristol and Abbey Wood (SW Bristol Abbey Wood) candidates need to be flexible for business needs.

As a Senior Project Manager, your main responsibilities will be: 


  • Take responsibility for the definition, documentation and safe execution of a single major project or several smaller initiatives; actively participating in all phases of the project.
  • Lead a 2-year conceptual assessment of options to address UK Defence’s future tri-service Strategic Sealift requirements.
  • Assess and confirm with all key stakeholders the UK Strategic Sealift demand signal.
  • Manage internal and external relationships as appropriate. Identify, assess, and manage risks to the success of the project.
  • Ensure realistic project and quality plans are prepared, maintained, and tracked against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders.
  • Achieve successful Strategic Outline Case project milestone.
  •  Develop and draft the Full Business Case, with input from specialists as necessary.
    • Define commercial procurement processes in line with public sector regulations and using agreed tools and systems.
    • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks.
    • Previous MOD/Defence experience highly desirable.
    • Experience in major projects – shipping sector – highly desirable
    • Agile Project Manager, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or similar, are highly desirable.
